Acknowledgements and Appreciations

You can't build a nest with only one twig - and so it has been with the Aviary. I have so many people to thank, and so many people whose contributions I want to acknowledge that I'm not certain I can remember all of them. Still, this is a place to start.

Thank you to the Edmonton Freenet for providing server space for the original Aviary even when it was nearly ten times the maximum allowed size.

Thank you to NetNation for hosting the current incarnation of The Aviary, as well as the rest of my domain, Shades-of-night.com.

Dad - thanks for keeping my car running, so I could afford to spend my spare (heh) cash on computers and 'net time, instead of transportation.

Mom - thanks for not being a technophobe.

Eric - thanks for teaching me how to use a mouse (oh - double-click ... I get it!)

Cernunnos - thanks for teaching me how to upload and download files.. although I still suspect you were rolling your eyes, on the other end of the line.

Thank you to the University of Alberta for providing all their students with free Internet accounts, and free web page space. Oh, and sorry about almost recursively deleting Unix from those computers. Tsk... A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Adam - thank you for teaching me how to use the "View Source" button. (So that's how they did it!)

Corin, Tanya, Kaeryn, Myke - Thanks for the computer in the living room, the BBS, the late nights, and for putting up with my stuff all over the place.

Wally - thanks for the late nights, the early mornings, the coffee, the battery replacements (heh), the scanning, the surfing, and the 'hacker' flattery. Oh yeah... and for helping me discover how Netscape can be used to hack the Registry. A little Win'95 is a dangerous thing...

Thanks to Jon Higbee, Rhiannon Raven, Mikel, Pauline, Jan Brocannier, Asa, Maud, Koronae, Corvus Coronoides, the Argentinian Azrael, PWL, and anyone else who has donated information, images, anecdotes, or other useful tidbits to the construction of the Aviary. You supplied the bulk of the twigs.

Special thanks to Raven Black - for sharing an interest in all things Corvid, for inspiriation from his web page, for chatting online, killing time, giving it new life, providing encouragement, helpful hints, photos and scans, for the Strangler album, the wax crow, and for enduring my atrocious email habits. My nest is lined with your shiny things.

And last but far from least, thankyou Shades for the support, encouragement, tolerance, long-suffering sighs, the fonts, the drivers, the 5 am computer repair, and (of course) for the ring.

Thanks as well to all those who deserve to be on this list, but for some quirk of fate, aren't - I appreciate your patience. Drop me a line and I'll be sure to add you immediately. Or don't, and simply enjoy the warm feeling of knowing you contributed in your own special way.
