Ravens of the Storm Explore the Terrain

(Feb 3, 1999)

Welcome to the wonders of the Canadian winter!

The Ravens of the Storm (well, those who happened to be present) decided to make the most of a bright sunny day by going out to play in the snow. We brought the new camera, of course! (It takes MPEGs as well as digital stills). We did not, however, bring anything sensible like tall boots, mitts, toques, scarves, or other protective gear. Not a big deal, really, since we never got farther than the back yard, but it made for a chillier experience than originally planned. (What - we planned?)

Foxglove decided to toss on a cloak to help her keep warm. Not just any cloak, either - but a lightweight, silky, almost-non-existant cloak. She looked mysterious and enigmatic in it... and cold, too, once we got outside. (Click the pic for a larger version. Hopefully other pics of her in similar attire will be posted in the Gallery, soon)

Anyways, our fearless leader, Nightshade, ventured out into the snow, testing its depth. (NS was also the only person who actually had tall boots, on.)

The snow proved to be too deep for Cas and Foxglove's low shoes, and almost too deep for Nightshade, at one point.

As the sun slipped behind the clouds, we returned to the warmth of Nightshade's abode, and took advantage of the fireplace, there. A conversation then ensued about how the Ravens of the Storm (being the proud mercenary force that they are) should really proclaim the wonders of their escapades to the world (not to mention having glorious escapades more often), and hatched a plan to this effect. Every other week, the Ravens of the Storm should embark upon another outing, and make a web page celebrating their accomplishments.

All around, the members had more fun making up names for various activities and webpages than actually making plans to do any of the suggested activities, but the results were enough to stimulate interest in the Wild Mercenary Lifestyle again.

So you, dear reader, can look forward to more daring tales of our exploits in the (we hope) not so distant future.

Quotes (and Mis-quotables):

"Hey Captain! Show us how to fall on our butts in the snow! Please sir? Do it for the camera?" - Foxglove

"The medic is not allowed to get frostbite." - Cas

"I think it's deeper over here... Uh... yeah... Oops." - Nightshade, knee deep in snow.

And the quote of the day: "This is why you don't let the cat on the pool table!"
Our compliments to Cas for that brilliant insight, and for bodily hauling the cat off the table after she'd had her fun. Sorry 'bout that sword in the chest, though. Cats can be nasty.
